Vascular plants of NE US and adjacent Canada
Very robust biennial or monocarpic perennial 2-5 m, stem usually purple-blotched; lvs to 3 m, ternate or ternate-pinnate, with pinnately lobed lateral segments to 13 dm; umbels to 5 dm wide, with 50-150 rays; pet ca 1 cm; fr 8-11 mm, on pedicels 1.5-4 cm; 2n=22. Native of sw. Asia, recently established as a weed in c. and w. N.Y., and to be expected to spread.
