Vascular plants of NE US and adjacent Canada
Much like no. 4 [Gentiana saponaria L.]; stem and cal-tube papillate-puberulent; cal-lobes mostly linear-subulate and shorter than the tube, to 8(-12) mm; cor 2.5-4.5 cm, more open, paler, the tube generally white and the lobes suffused with blue, the plaits asymmetrically cleft, one segment usually bent inward; 2n=26. Moist woods at upper elev. in the mts. from w. Va. to Ga. Sept., Oct.
