SAMPLES ARE CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE. Please contact the NEON Biorepository for information about when these samples will become available. Genetic extracts from the Canadian Centre for DNA Barcoding from select Carabid adults collected during pitfall sampling (NEON sample class: bet_expertTaxonomistID_in.geneticSampleID). Ground beetle abundance and diversity are sampled via pitfall trapping at regular intervals by NEON field technicians at core and relocatable terrestrial sites. Following trap collection, all beetles from the family Carabidae are sorted by NEON technicians and identified to species or morphospecies. For select Carabids, a sample is taken from a leg for genetic barcoding. Genetic extracts in 96-well plates from the Canadian Centre for DNA Barcoding are archived in the NEON Biorepository at -80 degrees Celsius. See TOS Protocol and Procedure: Ground Beetle Sampling and TOS Science Design for Ground Beetle Abundance and Diversity (https://data.neonscience.org/documents) for more information about this sample class. NEON datasets (https://data.neonscience.org/home) associated with this sample class include Ground Beetles Sampled from Pitfall Traps and Ground Beetle Sequences DNA Barcode.
