SAMPLES ARE CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE. Please contact the NEON Biorepository for information about when these samples will become available. Vials containing identified mosquitoes stored in bulk (not pathogen tested) from CO2 trapping at terrestrial sites (NEON sample class: mos_archivepooling_in.archiveVialIDList). Mosquito abundance and diversity are sampled at regular intervals by NEON field technicians at core and relocatable terrestrial sites. Following collection, samples are sent to a professional taxonomist where a subsample of each catch generated from each trap is identified to species and sex. Identified mosquitoes are then processed for pathogen analysis or preserved for final archiving. Vials containing identified mosquitoes are archived in 2, 5, 10, or 15 mL cryovials at -80 degrees Celsius. See TOS Protocol and Procedure: Mosquito Sampling and TOS Science Design for Mosquito Abundance, Diversity and Phenology. NEON datasets (https://data.neonscience.org/home) associated with this sample class include Mosquitoes Sampled from CO2 Traps.
