Vascular plants of NE US and adjacent Canada
Stems tufted or prostrate, the branches 1-2 dm tall; lvs withering at the end of the season and persistent, thin, oblanceolate to spatulate-obovate, 2-5 cm (petiole included), acute to rounded, serrulate, rugose above, reticulate beneath; cor 4-5 mm; fr black, juicy, 6-10 mm. Greenl. to Alas., s. to the higher mts. of Me. and N.H. May, June. (Mairania a.; Arctous a.)
