Vascular plants of NE US and adjacent Canada
Rhizomatous perennial, often some of the stems slender, floating, and glabrous, but fls produced only on erect or ascending, usually soft- hairy stems 3-6 dm; lvs alternate, those of the flowering stems lanceolate to oblanceolate, mostly 3-6 cm, on petioles seldom over 1 cm, generally hairy; pet mostly 15-25 mm; anthers 2.5-3.5 mm; otherwise much as in no. 3 [Ludwigia peploides (Kunth) P. H. Raven]. Swamps and ponds at a few stations in our range from s. N.Y. southward; N.C. to Tex., and s. to Argentina. Summer. (Jussiaea u.; J. michauxiana)
