Vascular plants of NE US and adjacent Canada
Shrub 2-5 m, colonial by roots, the young twigs brown- lepidote; lvs ovate-oblong to obovate-oblong, 2-7 cm, silvery-lepidote on both sides; fls 12-15 mm, densely silvery; sep spreading, 2.5-4 mm, yellow within; disk scarcely developed; fr 1 cm, ellipsoid, densely silvery; 2n=28. River-banks and moist hillsides; Que. to Alas., s. to Minn., N.D., and Utah. June. (E. argentea)
