Pet and stamens each 5; carpels 2(3), the styles distinct; fr a berry-like drupe with 2(3) pyrenes; very prickly shrubs with large, simple, petiolate, lobed lvs and numerous crowded, head-like umbels in ample terminal racemes. Monospecific.
