Plant: perennial herb; 4-9 dm tall, glabrous Leaves: linear-lanceolate to linear, the lower ones 5-10 cm long, 3-6 mm broad, the upper ones 6-9 cm long, 1-3 mm broad INFLORESCENCE: a terminal, compound cyme Flowers: calyx lobes linear, 3-7 mm long; corolla tube 16-20 mm long, broadest near the apex, markedly constricted at the orifice, the lobes 10-15 mm long Fruit: terete, 1.5-9 cm long. SEEDS cylindrical, corky, 6-8 mm long, 2.0-2.5 mm broad Misc: Sandy sagebrush deserts and pinyon-juniper woodlands; 1200-1600 m (4000-5200 ft); Apr-May REFERENCES: McLaughlin, Steven, P. 1994.
