Leaflets: blade ovate, margins irregularly toothed or lobed. Flowers cup- or bell-shaped; sepals lanceolate-ovate, 8-10 mm; petals yellow (veins yellow), obovate-cuneate, 12-18 mm (apex deeply emarginate); filaments 4 mm; anthers yellow, oval, 1.5 mm. Tubercles absent or not (without surface globules, appearing slick), brown, lamellar, planar, or conical. 2n = 10. Flowering Apr-Jun. Wet meadows of coastal prairies; of conservation concern; 0-100 m; Calif. Subspecies sulphurea is easily recognized by its entirely yellow petals. It is known only from Point Reyes, Marin County, and the Butano Creek area, San Mateo County (R. Ornduff 1971).
