Plant: perennial herb; stems to 35 cm tall, potentially producing branches along their entire length Leaves: to 5 cm long, to 14 mm wide, sessile, oblanceolate or narrowly elliptic to lanceolate; margins toothed to shallowly lobed; upper leaves with slightly clasping bases or basal lobes INFLORESCENCE: cymose Flowers: pedicellate, subtended by 1-2 linear-lanceolate, entire to few-lobed bracts; petals yellow, 5-11 mm long, 2-4 mm wide, with trichomes at apex only; staminodia 3-5, often with an anther, clearly narrower than petals; stamens with slightly broadened filaments few; style (3-)5-7 mm long; stigmatic papillae inconspicuous Fruit: capsules cylindric, 6-17 mm long.
